Daniel Hayes

Daniel Hayes is a commercial real estate investment executive with more than 31 years of experience in debt and equity investing, portfolio management, and CRE underwriting. He currently serves as Head of Midwest Region Originations at New York Life Investment Management, where he leads a team responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and closing commercial real estate loans across the Midwestern United States. Throughout his career, Daniel has originated, structured, closed, and managed more than $3 billion in debt investments and joint venture equity investments representing over $100 million in total capitalization. His experience spans office, industrial, multifamily, seniors housing, hospitality, retail, office, LIHTC affordable housing, student housing, and self-storage properties. Before joining New York Life, he held senior equity investment and lending positions at Heitman, Hunt Investment Management, Capmark Finance, GE Healthcare Financial Services, Ernst & Young, and the National Equity Fund. Daniel holds a Master of Regional Planning with a concentration in real estate investment and development from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also serves on the board of the Illinois Housing Development Authority and is an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
